Prof. Dr. Christoph Hilgers is full professor for Structural Geology and Tectonics and executive director of the Institute of Applied Geosciences at KIT. After his studies of Geology at RWTH Aachen University and Applied Structural Geology & Rock Mechanics at Imperial College London, he worked as researcher at RWTH Aachen before moving to Quality Management & Metrology, Mechanical Engineering at WZL. Here he designed and planned GUtech as subsidiary of OES LLC, which he then set-up and managed in Muscat, Oman. He later became professor of Reservoir-Petrology at RWTH Aachen University before moving to KIT in 2016. He is a member of several professional and interdisciplinary boards such as the State’s ThinkTank Industrial Resources Strategies, RawMaterialsKnowledge e.V. and the national committee if the world petroleum council DGMK, among others.

Catherine Gras has been Storengy UK and Germany CEO since 1 October 2018. Storengy is a fully owned subsidiary of ENGIE.

Catherine Gras began her career in the ENGIE Group in 2001 with various roles in Mergers & Acquisitions and then later as CFO of the gas supply division. This was followed by management positions in energy management and trading. Since 2016, she had been Managing Director of Storengy UK Ltd, for which she continues to act as Chairman of the Board. In October 2018 she joined Storengy Deutschland GmbH as the Managing Director.

Catherine Gras holds a Master's degree from the French ESSEC Business School. Before joining the ENGIE Group, she had worked for a private equity fund and the auditing company KPMG.

The current role of Dr. Thorsten Hinz is Manager Public and Government Affairs Upstream Germany at ExxonMobil Production Deutschland GmbH (EMPG). He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from TU Hamburg-Harburg and Engineering Diploma in Chemical Engineering TU Clausthal. In 1996 he joined ExxonMobil in its heritage company BEB in Gas Operations Department, held various supervisory and managerial positions in sour gas production. Between 2003 – 2007 moved to Houston, TX, to lead Process Engineering Design Group in ExxonMobil Production Company working on larger scale projects mainly in Nigeria, and in 2005 took on responsibility for ExxonMobil US Production’s Western Gulf of Mexico Oil & Gas Operations.

 Moved into current role in 2016, between 8/2018-2/2019 in addition supported the ExxonMobil Brussels P&GA organization in EU affairs on chemical matters.

PD Dr. Frank Strozyk: Geology studies at RWTH Aachen University, PhD in Geosciences at MARUM, Bremen with working focus on submarine slope stability and seismicity, Habilitation in Geosciences at RWTH Aachen University with core topic on the evolution and structure of subsurface salt deposits. From 2009- 2013 Post-Doc Researcher at RWTH Aachen University, 2013-2018 Assistant Professor at EMR of RWTH Aachen University, 2018-2019 Innovation and Business Relations Manager at RWTH Innovation GmbH, and since 2018 Private Lecturer at RWTH Aachen University. In 2019 transfer as Senior Project Manager to the International Geothermal Center (GZB), and since 2020 Head of Transfer & Strategy and Senior Project Manager at Fh-IEG.

Steve Freeman is currently the Head of Energy Transition for the Digital and Integration side of Schlumberger. This spans solutions across Oil & Gas emissions reductions, CCS, Offshore wind, energy storage, hydrogen, geothermal, and energy integration. Steve is also the Global Technology Advisor for Subsurface, AI and Innovation. Steve gained his PhD in Structural Geology from Leeds University in the UK.  He has since worked in the Energy and Natural Resource businesses around the globe over the last 25 years.

Dr. Gesa Netzeband is Managing Director of DGMK, Deutsche Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für nachhaltige Energieträger, Mobilität und Kohlenstoffkreisläufe e.V..

With a background in geoscience, Gesa has spent a few years in academic research before entering the E&P industry, where she has worked 12 years in various positions. She has led multi-disciplinary teams in exploration and business development projects and has been involved in projects on strategic corporate level. As lead portfolio and digital self services she has shaped the Digital Transformation journey of Wintershall Dea, before joining DGMK in 2020.
