Abstract mit freundlicher Genehmigung der FVV
Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) are assumed to gain in significance regarding sales number and market share. In these PHEV applications, it is expected that the fuels will stay inside the vehicle tank for much longer period of time due to continuous development of charg-ing infrastructure and battery technology. As a result, fuel aging processes at tank-like storing conditions can become more and more important with respect to future mobility concepts. This research project is therefore focused on the screening and investigation of different diesel and gasoline related fuels with respect to their aging stability, aging processes, and possible inter-actions with hardware components of modern fuel injection systems. In detail, the five following tasks are included within the scope of work
- a) Development of laboratory accelerated aging conditions, which are representative for longterm fuel-tank storage conditions
- b) Storage of a wide matrix of fuels and fuel blends to determine the fuel dependent agingprocesses without hardware interaction
- c) Chemical analysis and investigation of the fuel dependent aging processes during storagewithout hardware interaction
- d) Fuel aging within selected hardware components to determine possible impacts on hard-ware functionality
- e) Mechanical and functional analysis of hardware changes in relation to the applied fuel anddetermination of possible correlations between fuel aging and changes of hardware functionality
The objective of the research project is achieved.
