The DGMK research report on Project 887 "Scientific study on the national and international technical status of the storage and pipeline transportation of CO2" was published.
The world's leading climate and energy organizations unanimously emphasize the crucial role of carbon capture and storage (CCS) on the path to climate neutrality. In order to bring the discussion on the safe storage of CO2 in the deep underground with scientifically sound information, the "Scientific Study on the National and International Technical Status of the Storage and Pipeline Transportation of CO2" was carried out. It was compiled by scientists at Clausthal University of Technology as part of DGMK project 887. The study summarizes the current state of knowledge on CO2-storage and CO2-pipeline transportation. It is based on many years of published experience from international CCS projects. In addition, the applicability and feasibility for projects in Germany will be examined.
