Condideration on the Risk for the Use of Tank Vehicles with Higher Gross Mass in Site Delivery
The delivery of mineral oil products (motor fuels) from the refineries/terminals to the public
filling stations takes place with tank vehicles. These tank vehicles have also to comply the
requirements of the international rules for the transport of dangerous goods. The maximum
gross mass of a tank vehicle in Germany is 40 t.
With implementation of a risk consideration, the increasing of the maximum gross mass has
been examined. The research report no. 203 “Safety levels of transport tanks” of the BAM
has been used as basis for the assessment of the new big tanks.
