DGMK-Project Occupational Safety
DGMK Accident Statistics of the Mineral Oil Industry
Accident statistics for the refinery sector have been kept since 1972. The aim of the statistics is to compare accident figures nationally and internationally as well as with other branches of industry. Since the end of the 1990s, data has also been recorded for the partner companies used for technical services.
A questionnaire was developed which contains the following data: number of hours worked, accidents from the first lost workday on, number of workdays lost. Furthermore, the type of accident, type of injury, injured body parts, type of activity and cause of accident are also queried.
The annual DGMK accident statistics for own employees and partner companies in refineries and plants were updated. For the year 2021, the accident frequency (accidents with lost time ≥ 1 working day) for own employees is 1.4 and 0.8 for partner companies. In addition to the statistics, an in-depth evaluation was performed. The main accident categories identified (working on equipment, walking on the same level/stairs) are discussed in the DGMK Expert Committee on Occupational Safety in order to exchange and derive suitable and successful measures in each case.
