We offer a neutral platform for technical and scientific exchange between industry professionals, university scientists, associations, retirees and students. We organize the exchange of information and experience in many different ways. Members as well as non-members are invited to our public events, such as conferences, workshops and lecture series.
We operate technical and research committees with their associated working groups on a wide range of topics. They serve the direct exchange between experts, who keep each other up to date with the state of the art of science and technology. This regularly leads to questions that we further investigate within the DGMK research.
The DGMK research is another focal point of our work. Here we pursue the goal of application-oriented research for our main topics. The research funds come from both industry and the public sector. The DGMK is a member of the German Federation of Industrial Research Associations (AiF) and is therefore Collective Research (IGF). The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy supports the IGF with public funds.
In cooperation with the German Institute for Standardisation (DIN), the DGMK conducts standardisation work for fuels and lubricants in the FAM Technical Committee for Mineral Oil and Fuel Standardisation in close cooperation with the industry.
Since its founding year, the DGMK has formed the German National Committee (DNK) of the World Petroleum Council (WPC). The DNK delegates experts from the industry who, as representatives of the German oil and gas industry, participate in the organisation of the World Petroleum Congress which takes place every three years. At a currently upcoming World Petroleum Congress we promote the event among our members.
We regularly cooperate with national and international organisations and associations in the context of interdisciplinary, cross-sector and transnational issues. In addition to our Austrian sister organisation, the ÖGEW Austrian Society for Petroleum Sciences, said international organisations and associations include DECHEMA Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, GeCatS German Catalysis Society, EAGE European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers, SCI Società Chimica Italiana and SPE Society of Petroleum Engineers.
