Literature study: Methanol as a fuel

The aim of the study is to analyze the suitability of methanol for motor use in detail, taking into account chemical, physical and safety aspects. In view of the urgent need to reduce emissions in the transport sector and develop sustainable fuel alternatives, methanol could play an important role in the energy transition.

The study focuses on the following areas:

• Properties of methanol with regard to engine use


• Variants of engine and fuel concepts incl. combustion process & emissions


• Utilization, infrastructure and bunkering
