DGMK-Project Occupational Safety
DGMK Accident Statistics of the Mineral Oil Industry
Since the early 1970s, the DGMK has kept annual accident statistics for the refinery sector. The aim of the statistics is to compare accident figures nationally and internationally, as well as with other industries. Since the end of the 1990s, data have also been collected for the partner companies used for technical services.
Data retrieval at refinery sites will follow OSHA 300. Trends in commuting accidents will also be examined and benchmarking will be documented for national and international comparison.
The statistics have been updated: For 2024, the accident frequency rate (accidents resulting in lost time of ≥ 1 workday) is 1.0 for our own employees and 1.1 for partner companies. The statistics have been further developed and expanded to include the SIF (Serious Incidents and Fatalities)/Non-SIF severity classification as well as classification according to Life Saving Rules (IOGP). Members exchange information about incidents within the DGMK Occupational Safety Technical Committee to share appropriate measures and lessons learned. Data collection for the 2025 reporting year is underway.
