Safety Related Investigation of the Ignition Danger Caused by the use of Mobile Phones at Petrol Filling Stations
The aim of this work was to investigate which ignition danger could be caused by mobile (cellular) phones at petrol filling stations when they are used at the gasoline pump by the clients, e.g. to perform pay functions. For this, the risks related to the danger caused by gasoline vapour/air mixtures (Gas Group IIA, Temperature Class T3) were estimated using an ignition risk analysis. In addition, investigations with mobile phones actually being used were performed. With these results a recommendation for the future use of mobile phones at petrol stations could be worked out.
