Cold Flow Performance of Diesel Fuel and Winter Operability of Diesel Passenger Cars: Fuel Variation

DGMK Research Report 764-2 Published

In the DGMK project 764, which was worked on jointly by the automotive industry, fuel industry and additive producers, the influence of fuel and vehicle technology on winter operability was determined in part 1. While different vehicles were considered in part 1, the focus in part 2 was on the variation of diesel fuels. The test fuels were selected under the aspect that the logistics occurring in the market were covered. Based on the results of the first part of the project, vehicle G was selected as the test vehicle for the further investigations in part 2. The test fuels used were described in a laboratory programme.

Furthermore, the project included the investigation of the crystallisation behavior. In an extensive vehicle programme, the test fuels were tested with vehicle G on an air-conditioned roller test bench. The procedure COT DGMK 764 with modifications developed in the first part of the project was applied. There are different opinions about the evaluation of some tests in the project support. In the report, the results are therefore evaluated in two stages and the results of the two evaluation approaches are presented side by side on an equal footing.
