Coolant for the Wet Machining of Fibre Injected Plastic

The project "Cooling lubricants for wet machining of fiber-reinforced plastics" provided applied research results in order to achieve lower tool wear and increased productivity and thus a cost reduction in the finishing of fiber-reinforced composites through the use of cooling lubricants and, in parallel, to improve occupational safety and machine safety. The focus of the research project was on the development of a cooling lubricant tailored to the machining of fiber-reinforced composites and a machining process adapted to it.

The IGF project (20284 N) of the research association DGMK Deutsche Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Erdöl, Erdgas und Kohle e.V., Große Elbstraße 131, 22767 Hamburg, Germany, was funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection through the German Federation of Industrial Research Associations (AiF) as part of the program for the promotion of joint industrial research (IGF) on the basis of a resolution of the German Bundestag.
