Postponement of the 23rd World Oil Congress 2020 in Houston until December 2021

The WPC President, Tor Fjaeran, and Jeff Shellebarger, Chairman of the 23rd WPC Organising Committee, announced that the 23rd World Petroleum Congress has now been postponed to 5-9 December 2021.

"The far-reaching consequences of COVID-19, including health and safety concerns, travel restrictions, and impact on the global oil industry, have presented the world with extraordinary challenges and have taken an enormous toll on the oil and gas industry. As a result, the Executive Committee of the World Oil Council and the 23rd Organising Committee of the World Petroleum Congress have agreed to postpone the Congress until December 5-9, 2021 in Houston, USA.

Our global stakeholders and partners were consulted during the evaluation process and remain committed to our efforts. Their valuable contribution has supported our approach and is greatly appreciated. We will communicate with all speakers, exhibitors, sponsors and registered delegates to keep them informed of their options and ongoing developments.

Our industry is resilient and innovative. As organisers, we are committed to providing a secure, world-class, global forum to address these massive changes we are experiencing, while continuing our commitment, discussion and high-level dialogue when we meet in Houston next year.

We look forward to welcoming each and every one of you to the 23rd World Petroleum Congress in December 2021".
