The Conference is jointly organized by the DGMK Division "Petrochemistry", the Division of Industrial Chemistry of the Società Chimica Italiana (SCI) and the ÖGEW Österreichische Gesellschaft für Energiewissenschaften.
DGMK-Event / Petrochemistry
The Role of Catalysis for the Energy-Transition
About the conference
This conference brings together experts from industry and academia. A unique feature of this conference over the years is the high participation from industry, representing roughly one third of the delegates. This makes this conference an ideal platform for networking. The Conference will address topical scientific and technological issues around catalysis as an enabling technology, addressing the special challenges of the energy transition and improved sustainability.
Abstracts on both fundamental studies and applied research around the above topics will be highly welcome.
English will be the Conference language throughout. The scientific program will consist of keynote lectures by renowned experts in the field (upon invitation only), oral presentations and poster presentations. There will be no parallel sessions and ample time will be allowed for discussion. The preprints with the manuscripts of keynote, oral and poster presentations will be handed out in electronic form to registered participants only at the Conference desk.
Topics of Keynote Lectures
- Catalysis for future fuels and chemical feedstocks
- The use of renewable energy in catalysis (electro-, photo-, ...)
- Catalysis & mobility
- Circular economy
- Feedstock diversification
- Catalysis in generation and use of hydrogen
- Energy efficiency of chemical processes

Guided Tour - BASF
Discover BASF - Visitor Center
Where can we find chemistry around us? And where and how is it created?
We will take you on an exciting tour into the world of BASF at our Ludwigshafen site. Our tour begins in the Visitor Center exhibition where we will talk about the innovative strength and vision of the BASF throughout its history. And, of course, we will look at products which we all encounter in everyday life.
We will take you then on a special tour through the BASF's production site in Ludwigshafen.
At around 39,000 employees, a good third of BASF's employees around the world work in Ludwigshafen. Many thousands of products for customers from almost all industries are manufactured in the 200 production plants at the site.
- Tour: Wednesday, October 5, 2022, 10 - 12 h, English
- Tour: Friday, October 7, 2022, 14.30 - 16.30 h, German
When you register for the conference, you can also register for the BASF Tour, which is sponsored by BASF.
