SECURE - Sustainable dEployment and Conservation of Underground Reservoirs and Environment

In the collaborative project, cross-scale and versatile prediction and characterization tools were developed for sustainable gas reservoirs, conventional and unconventional hydrocarbon reservoirs, and geothermal reservoirs under production. Improved process understanding of reservoir system stability and integrity is necessary for sustainable operational use of the subsurface and to better assess potential environmental hazards. Probability-based approaches were consistently implemented in the project to describe the evolution of microcracks, which also enabled the inversion of parameters that describe, among other things, the stability and integrity of reservoir systems.
