Determination of selected components in mineral oil products
The concentrations of selected components in mineral oil products were determined in order
to support the „Beratergremium Umweltrelevanter Alstoffe (BUA) in its efforts to establish reports
on chemical substances (BUA is the "Consulting Committee for Existing Chemicals Impacting
on the Environment").
In December 2001 (winter grade) and February 2002 (transitionary grade) 10 German refineries
supplied samples for these investigations of the 3 gasoline fuels (regular, super and
super plus) as well as of diesel fuel, jet A 1 and light heating oil.
These samples were mixed to yield an average sample for each product. The mixing ratio
reflected the respective product output of each participating refinery.
The 12 average samples thus obtained (0 products, 2 seasons) were analysed by three laboratories
for those components which have been selected by BUA.
In addition to the above tests on the compositions of the fluid phases, the equilibrium
concentration of these components in the gaseous phase was calculated for two
temperatures.
