In seismics the methods of lithological interpretation are getting more and more important. Litho-seismics do need a complex acquisition and evaluation of the seismic signals in a way up to now not usual in seismic field operations. The joint R+D-project LIPS with its three universities and nine oil companies involved was directed to different aspects of interactions of the seismic pulse with the subsurface rock layers.
Under the inclusion of the whole wave train (p, s and Stoneley waves) several new interpretation concepts and models were developed and tested on field data.
