Professor Weitkamp was very actively involved in the DGMK for decades. He was a founding member of the Department of Petrochemistry, which he subsequently headed as chairman for several years. He was a member of the DGMK board of directors, the German National Committee of the World Petroleum Council and the scientific advisory board of the DGMK. In 1976 he was awarded the Carl-Zerbe Prize for young scientists and in 2002 he was awarded the Carl-Engler Medal. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens Weitkamp died on 25 August 2019 in his native city of Paris at the age of 77. We will honour his memory.
