Porous reservoir rocks are explored both as potential hydrocarbon carriers and in geothermal energy. The quantification of the influence of sedimentary and structural microstructures on the flow properties in the reservoir and on the reservoir integrity is of utmost importance and has been successfully investigated in the DGMK 802 project.
