As the first face-to-face event, our "Driving from the past to the future" kicked off the 2022 event year. On May 17, together with interested members of the She Drives Energy Network and BP Europe SE, we met in Bochum, Germany. embark on a "time travel through mobility".
First, organizer Katrin Netzel and host Peter Sauermann (BP Europe SE) gave us a warm welcome and a detailed insight into BP's climate goals and the corresponding fields of action.
This was followed by a rousing presentation by Nadine Hölzinger, Managing Director of Spilett n/t GmbH, on the topic of "CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY", in which she addressed not only the technical aspects but also the social and political aspects of climate-neutral mobility. The transport sector is a major contributor to Germany's greenhouse gas emissions. The field of mobility in climate policy therefore plays a central role in sustainable development. Efficient and low-emission drive systems and fuels are one of four approaches to sustainable mobility. This holistic presentation ensured a comprehensive overview in which the demands on technical solutions as well as their role in the transformation to Net-Zero could be classified. The presentation was rounded off with a lively Q&A session.
We then set off on our journey through time in small groups. At various stations, BP experts explained to us the mobility technologies of today and tomorrow and visualized them with the help of great exhibits. From the combustion engine and the conventional fuels, we traveled to high-performance fuels, biofuels and synthetic fuels., through fuel cells to the E-mobility. We looked under the hood of the cars, into the tank, and into the injection valves, compared the smallest deposits with cameras and microscopes, picked up charging cables and - quite heavy - fast-charging cables, and followed electrolysis on the model.
The participants asked questions at length, learned a lot, took away new insights and made new contacts in the process. Driving from the past to the future - that's what works best together!
We thank BP Europe SE and Katrin Netzel for the organization and of course all participants for the lively exchange. We hope to see you again soon at the upcoming events!
