Seminar

The IMIA (International Property Insurers Association) report on hydrogen in infrastructure is presented.

By way of introduction, an overview of the drivers and barriers to the hydrogen industry and the role of the insurance industry is provided.

The different production methods are presented, as well as selected areas of application.
e.g. in heavy industry and for power generation by means of gas turbines.

This is used to illustrate the risks from a technical insurance perspective, such as "new technologies", explosion hazards and steel embrittlement.

Loss examples from the past and possible loss scenarios for the future are discussed.
